TRENDS OF HOSPITALIZATIONS AND MORTALITY OF THE PATIENTS WITH HEART FAILURE BEFORE AND AFTER THE MANDATORY LOCKDOWN DUE TO THE COVID-19 PANDEMIC IN PERU

Date: Lunes, 14 Febrero 2022 12:05
The impact of the pandemic on heart failure patients in low- and middle-income countries, including Peru, could be greater, due to the lack of medical personnel, shortage of personal protective equipment and resources, thus making treatment difficult for these patients. However, to date little is known about the impact of the mandatory lockdown on the health outcomes for patients with heart failure. Therefore, the objective of this study is to determine the changes in the trend of hospitalizations and mortality of patients with HF before and after the mandatory lockdown due to the COVID-19 pandemic. We will use an interrupted time series analysis (ITS) to assess the aggregate change in the outcomes of interest before and after the mandatory lockdown in Peru.
